I downloaded the Evi artificial intelligence app to my iPhone 4 this evening. Although I had trouble connecting to the servers at first, all-in-all, Evi is a good alternative to Siri, and it’s only 99 cents.
Similar to Siri, you type or ask her a question and she’ll read you an answer. I asked her a couple of standard A.I. questions and she was able to answer them pretty well. Evi’s not quite as witty as Siri, but it showed me that I can still have little fun with the app.
I was a little disappointed that she didn’t integrate with other apps on my phone, such as texting or handling appointment tasks, but I’m sure True Knowledge will add services as they continue to develop the software.
Will I use it? I might use it a little when I need hands free web searching. Truthfully, it’s more of a novelty at this point. One major advantage to Siri is the seamless integration with the iPhone. That’ll be necessary for Evi to compete. But, if I need to know where to hide a dead body, Evi has an answer.
