Wet weekend could dampen Halloween and the Talihina Festival

Holidays 026There’s one weekend each year I look forward to: the weekend of the Talihina Fall Foliage Festival in Talihina, Oklahoma.  If you’re into small town festivals, this one is a pretty good one.  I’m still planning to attend, but I’m taking my umbrella just in case; a wet weekend is being forecast for eastern Oklahoma that could turn the hose on both Halloween activities and the festival.

Rain will begin on Friday bringing about 1-1/2″ of rain to the Tulsa area.  I doubt any of the thunderstorms that develop will be severe, but we could see periods of heavy rain.

The rain will continue on Saturday, dumping an additional 1/2″ of rain on us…and Talihina.  I was hoping for a dry day to get the camera out and shoot the fall colors.  Maybe it’ll still be possible Saturday afternoon.

Not only will it be a wet couple of days, but high temps will be in the low 60s.  Keep that in mind because the kids will need to dress warm Saturday night when they’re out trick-or-treating.  In fact, it might be a good night to participate in one of the indoor Halloween activities typically held this time of year.

My photo opp?  I’ll probably still take the Talihina drive.

Fall is here.
