April 28, 2016: downtown Tulsa

It had been a while since I’d been out to just shoot pictures, so I decided to catch the sunset in downtown Tulsa.  I thought the sun setting over the BOK center would make a great photograph.  I still think so.

I consulted the “Photographer’s Ephemeris” to calculate timing of the sunset and the best location to shoot from.

The best location would have been east of the bus station.  However, the dome located on the top of the station made that location impossible – I couldn’t see the BOK center.  So, I moved to a parking lot at 3rd and Denver – across the street from the BOK.

Timing car traffic was going to be a challenge, as was shooting around the homeless folks.  Both should slow down the closer we got to sundown.

Unfortunately, as the sun began to set, I found that the cloud cover was too thick and prevented a colorful sunset.  I shot a few anyway.

Not much color in the sunset, but the BOK looks great!

After the sun set, the colors of downtown began to pop.

The BOK during "blue hour". Nice colors.

I liked the way the streetlights illuminate the trees. You can see the bus station in the background.
About half of a dozen photos taken ended up being “okay”.  I’m not discouraged though.  I’ll probably try to catch the image I have in my head another time.

I’ve put all of the photographs in this album:  2016: other phtographs
