The transfer of power was completed today

President Donald J. Trump

It’s official.  Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States and the peaceful transfer of power is complete.

In his first afternoon, President Trump signed the appointments of General Mattis as Secretary of Defense and General Kelly as Secretary of Homeland Security.  He also issued an executive order to ease the burden of the healthcare laws.

So far, so good.

I’m trying to remain optimistic.  In my lifetime I’ve seen many presidents come and go.  Some were great people and some were not.  Regardless, once the transfer of power was complete, I supported all of them … to a degree.  None of us will agree with a public official completely.  Some actions they take we’ll applaud and some we’ll condemn.  This time will be no different.

Will I hold President Trump accountable for his actions?  You can count on it – all of us should.

What I am hopeful for is our collective renewed energy.  This renewal is necessary to make the United States a shining example of what a true democracy can be.  We have a lot of work ahead of us to meet this goal.

Let us be hopeful and begin working together to correct the mistakes that have been made by our past leaders and build upon their many accomplishments.  We are Americans and when we work together we can achieve anything.

Stay safe and take care of each other.
