Severe Weather on tap for Saturday (10/21/17)

11:13 pm:  It has quieted down a bit.  That’ll be all for this storm.

Rest well.

10:39 pm:  Temps in Tulsa have dropped.  Rain and wind continues.

10:02 pm:  Radar update.

9:56 pm:  The winds and rain have made it to the homestead.  Intense thunderstorm for sure.

9:26 pm:  It’s finally getting to Tulsa.  Cooler air behind the front.  Nothing severe right now, but we could see periods of heavy rain, small hail and wind gusts to 50 mph.

7:27 pm:  The NWS has issued a tornado watch in effect until 2:00 a.m. on Sunday.

7:13 pm:  I had a feeling this was going to happen after dark here, and it is.  Storms began developing around OKC earlier and a tornado watch was issued for central OK.  The latest discussion indicates that the tornado watch will be moving into eastern Oklahoma soon.

Here’s the current radar image.

Oktoberfest is being shut down at 9:00 pm due to the storm potential.  Smart move by festival organizers.

As soon as the watch area is updated, I’ll update this post.

11:35 pm:  Not much of a change since this morning.  Got the yards mowed and I’m going to head to the market before I get into the afternoon.  Charging camera batteries so I’m ready for the evening – if something should develop early enough.

8:02 am:  I’ll be watching the developments closely today.  The outlook from the NWS this morning has an enhanced area of concern in Oklahoma.  Right now the major threats will be gusty winds, hail and rain.  However, we can’t rule out a tornado.  Initiation will be after 3:00 for our area, but that could change as the day progresses.

I’ll be updating this post throughout the day.
