Tornado risk much less, but a Winter Weather Advisory?
The threat for severe thunderstorms over night is still there, but the threat of tornadoes is much less. The risks for the Tulsa area will be gusty winds, hail and lots of rain. We could see a couple inches here in Tulsa before it’s over.
The amazing thing is what’s behind the cold front. Sleet and freezing rain is expected to fall in western Oklahoma. Temps are already falling into the upper 20s and low 30s. Locally, our temps will drop into the low 30s with wind chill values in the upper 20s. It’s going to be a cold one. Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for about half the state. Right now Tulsa isn’t included in that advisory, but it’s going to get cold.
Air conditioning today and heat tonight. That’s Oklahoma.
The rain should taper off in the morning, but the high tomorrow will struggle to reach 40 degrees. After upper 70s today, we’ll need the big coat once again in the morning.
Quite a change from this morning. I think that’s why Will Rogers said “if you don’t like the weather, stick around. It’ll change.”
How right you were, Will, How right you were.
