Chase from Missouri to Mississippi, 4/23-24/10
this
2009
Pond Creek,
OK, 8/19/09
We tried to squeeze one more chase out of the 2009
season. Although it was pretty much a bust, we did
get to experience the small town of Pond Creek.
Yes, it's a real town. (4 photographs)
Chase in N.W.
Oklahoma, 6/9/09
Our chase began in Harper, Kansas. But the target
area moved south and we were actually able to say, "it
looks to hit Wakita head on." We chased the storm
system from Wakita back towards Tulsa. (10

Chase in N.E.
Oklahoma, 5/8/09
The conditions weren't what I'd call perfect for chasing
storms, but we went out anyway. We did find a
couple cells to sit on for a while, but the highlight of
the day was Dinks BBQ in Bartlesville. Food was
great and they have the coldest beer in Oklahoma!

Chase in W.
Oklahoma (Day 2), 4/26/09
The forecasts were still great for the second day, but
the storms just didn't really produce. We did find
a couple of storms that gave us reason for concern in
the Woodward area. (8 photographs)
Chase in W.
Oklahoma (Day 1), 4/25/09
The forecasts were perfect for a 2 day trip to western
Oklahoma. On the first day, we found ourselves
chasing massive wall clouds in Greer and Washita
counties. (15 photographs)
Storms in N.
Oklahoma, 4/9/09
Although everything looked promising, it ended up being
a bust run. We did find a developing storm in N.
Oklahoma that was interesting. (14 photographs)
Storm Chase in
N. Oklahoma & S. Kansas, 3/23/09
Although early in the season, we chased a storm into
Billings OK and another one into Cowley County KS.
This gallery also includes some photographs I took only
5 days later in Tulsa - yes, a major snowfall. (6

town. (21 photographs)

Storm Chase in

was anything but. (12 photographs)

Oklahoma and southeast Kansas. (10 photographs)
2007
Chasing Storms in 2007
Schedule and health prevented me from chasing much in
2007, but I did get a few photographs of the storms I
did chase. The last 4 photographs were from a storm
cell I chased to the Missouri line on October 17th.
Later that day this storm system produced tornadoes just
outside of Springfield. (9 photographs)
Auto Accident, 2007
I stopped to shoot this auto accident, mainly to test my
new camera. The occupants had to be cut out of the
black car by rescue workers and were transported to the
hospital in critical condition. (10 photographs)
Ouachita Mountains, 2007
These photographs were taken in the Ouachita Mountains
in Oklahoma while chasing a storm that (after a few
hundred miles of driving) became a non-event. However,
I did enjoy traveling the winding roads through the
mountains. (10 photographs)
2006
Storms North of Tulsa, 2006
I began chasing storms again in 2006. These photographs
were taken while chasing a storm into northern Tulsa
County. The lightening video captures were shot earlier
in the week on April 24th, I had ended up in Rogers
County to witness a great show of lightening -- and 70
mph winds. (14 photographs)
Tulsa County Zoo, 2006
Over 100 degrees at the Tulsa County Zoo that day, as
you can tell by the bear with his butt up against the
cool concrete. We didn't' stay too long, but I did snap
a few photographs before we melted. (8 photographs)
2005
Coffeyville, Kansas, 2005
I actually went to Coffeyville to visit the childhood
home of my mother. While there, I found some very
interesting things to photograph, including some old
architecture, the Condon Bank (the last bank robbery of
the Dalton Boys) and the alley where most of the Dalton
gang were killed. (21 photographs)
Video
2011
Newkirk, OK
Storms, 2/27/11
It was early in the season, but this chase is proof that
severe weather can happen anytime. The Newkirk storm
eventually developed into a tornado touching down in
Southern Kansas.
2010
Yazoo City, MS
Storm Damage, 4/24/10
After several hundred miles of driving, we ended up in
Yazoo City, Mississippi. Little did we know that
we had positioned ourselves directly in the path of a
deadly EF4 tornado.
We shot this video after the tornado
had touched down in Yazoo City, showing some of the
damage.
Storms, 3/23/09
Yes, it's early in the season, but you have to take what
you can get. Storms were developing and we were there.
The highlight of the day, besides the burger, was
chasing a storm cell than landed us in Cowley County
Kansas. Yep, right under the rotation. (15:47)
