Ustream has begun interrupting live streams with commercials…8-10 of them every hour. I can’t justify paying several hundred dollars a year to use it the few times I do through the season to stop the ads and improve server connection. That appears to be their goal: make it unusable for the free service users so they’ll switch to the paid service. A service that is too expensive for the casual user.
Because of the increasingly poor connections with the Ustream servers and the intrusive advertisement policy for the free accounts, I’m changing the TWXC streaming service to Justin.tv. This change is effective immediately. I’ll be testing the connections this weekend. If all goes well, our next live chase will be broadcast using Justin.tv’s streaming service.
Hopefully this will correct the server connection issues in the field and stop the advertisement tactics Ustream is now deploying.
