I received an email today from AT&T. In the email they informed me that I was approaching my 5GB limit on my laptop connect. Say what? I have unlimited internet. What’s this 5GB crap?
I checked my last billing statement and it said I’d paid for unlimited service. So, I called their customer service to find out why I’d gotten the email. Apparently, AT&T did away with existing customers’ unlimited plans and they’re now capping everyone at 5GB.
My blood pressure sky-rocketed!
I’ve had AT&T’s less than stellar service for several years now. Although the connection has been crappy at times, it’s always been unlimited. I didn’t have to worry about how much I used it and I’ve paid 80 bucks a month for that peace of mind. I sure don’t want to worry about being connected to the internet when I’m chasing storms.
Nope. Not a happy camper.
Needless to say, I canceled my AT&T service and moved to Verizon’s 4G network. Yes, they cap their service too, but I get the faster speed with twice the cap (10GB) – at the same price AT&T has been charging me.
So, if you have AT&T’s “unlimited” cellular internet, you may want to start looking at your billing and your usage. It’ll cost you a bundle if you bust the cap.
When I canceled my AT&T service, I asked about the unlimited plan I have on my iPhone. I was assured that my phone plan would not change. We’ll see. They said the same thing about the laptop connect plan and you see where that got me.
