May 11 Chase: 540 miles for BBQ

Mid-week and we’re out chasing.  Imagine that.  Storms were expected to develop along the dryline in western Oklahoma.  Target?  Woodward.  It’s a long drive to Woodward.

Along the way, Justin scanned the latest models, radar and satellite images.  The dryline was holding just west of our target area.

Once in Woodward, we decided to have some lunch/dinner.  It was 2:00 and we figured we’d have some time to chow down before we began the chase.  And chow we did.

There’s a BBQ place in Woodward called “Waggs”.  They boasted that they had the best BBQ around.  I’ve always thought Dinks BBQ in Bartlesville was the best, we ate there a couple years ago.  I’ll have to admit though:  Waggs was awesome.  By the way, when the watress tells you the serving of french fries is pretty big?  Believe her.

We waddled out of the restaurant and back to the truck to look at what had happened since we entered the brick building to feast on cow and potatoes.  Nothing.  Absolutely nothing!

Venturing west and closer to the dryline things didn’t improve.  We’d see some buildup along the dryline, but the development quickly fell apart.

Yes, we pointed our butts back into the direction of Tulsa.

540 mile round-trip drive for BBQ.  I guess it could have been worse.
