Much needed rain expected in Tulsa Sunday and Monday

After a cold night tonight and a cool sunny day tomorrow, Tulsa will see some much needed rain.

Overnight tonight we can expect clear skies and a very cold 17°.  Wind chill values will drop to 8° by early morning.  Burr.

Sunday we’ll see sunny skies and highs in the low 40s.  The wind chill will be in the low 20s most of the day and tomorrow night, around 7 pm, light rain should begin to fall.  That’s a double edged sword though.  We need the rain, but we’ll have to deal with a few hours of some frozen stuff.

The precipitation overnight Sunday will turn to sleet/snow by sunrise on Monday.  I’m not expecting more than a tenth of an inch, but you know it doesn’t take much of the frozen stuff to affect elevated roadways.  Travel carefully.  Then about 8 a.m., the rain will return.  Highs on Monday should be near 40°, but the wind chill will still be a concern .  Rain should stay with us most of the day, tapering off around dinner time.  Total rainfall will be between 1/4 and 1/2”.

On New Years Day, we’ll have partly cloudy skies with high temps in the mid 30s.  It’s going to be a cold one.

Stay warm!
