There’s a slight risk of severe thunderstorms today here in Oklahoma.  With that, there’s also a risk for tornadoes.  It’s not a major risk right now, but worth keeping an eye on.

Timing will be an issue for chase opportunities.  Much will depend on how things shape up through the day.  For now anyway, late afternoon and early evening is the likely window.  The downside to that?  Storm development after sunset.  The highest temps and dewpoints will occur after 5PM in SE Oklahoma, the potential theater.  I’m not real confident that we’ll see the elements come together early enough.

In Tulsa, we’ll see rain develop through the day.  With highs in the low to mid 60s and dewpoints in the 50s, we could see some severe thunderstorms, but the chance for storm structure supporting major storm development is pretty slim.

It’s a wait and see game.  I’m hopeful, but not confident.  If that makes sense.

I’m getting gear ready to load, just in case an opportunity presents itself.  I’ll be checking the models through the day, but it’ll likely be mid afternoon before I make the final decision.

Update:  5:30 pm.

The line of showers and thunderstorms are just now beginning to move into the Tulsa area.  No chase today.
