Not much to chase, but a few nice days ahead

We just had what I hope is our last winter blast of the season.  Records were set in Oklahoma, but it’s really taken the spirit out of storm chasing.  Typically the first 2 weeks of may, I’m out chasing storms more than I’m home.  Needless to say, I’ve been home entirely too much.  Like most of you, I want winter to be over for a few months.

I don’t see any chase opportunities next week.  We’ll have a warm-up and more sunshine, but not much in the way of major thunderstorms.  Chase-able storms.  In some regards, I guess that’s okay.  But, for a storm chaser, it’s not great news.

For the next week we can expect daytime high temps in the 70s and more sunshine than we’ve seen in a while.  Rain chances will increase mid-week, but the window of opportunity will be a small one.

The first chance of severe storm development will be on Thursday, when temps will probably be in the low 80s and better conditions for storms.  We’ll see how that goes.

The only thing I’m really certain of is that the forecast will change a dozen times  over the next few days.  I’ll watch it and maybe we’ll have a chase opportunity in there somewhere.
