Imagine that.  A line of thunderstorms is popping up on the front.  The NWS issued a Tornado Watch for eastern Oklahoma.

I think I made the right call yesterday when I decided not to chase last night.  Most of the storms were in Kansas and the bad stuff was near St. Louis.  I’m not sure I made the right call this morning though.

A moderate risk for the area today.

The moderate risk area is still over Arkansas and southern Missouri, for now.  I’m hoping the target area will tighten up as we go through the morning.  If I can make it to a target and back home again today, I’ll probably venture out.  If not, I’ll have wasted a day of vacation for a chase that didn’t happen.  The life of a storm chaser.

The fact that the storm chances are dwindling here in Oklahoma today isn’t a total surprise.  This time of year it’s hit and miss.  That’s the way things go this early in the season.  I’m reminding myself that we’re still a couple weeks away from better chase opportunities.
