First snowfall of the season in Tulsa

6:10 PM — We may see a few flurries this evening, but the snow has basically ended here in Tulsa.  Most of the heavier snow is now south of the area.  We received less than 1/2″ of snow today, far less than the forecast.  But that was just enough to cause a few headaches for some travelers.

3:30 PM — The Winter Weather Advisory issued earlier today, has been extended until midnight.  Additional snow accumulation is possible.  Watch for slick spots on untreated roadways as we head into the evening as the sun sets.

9:54 AM — I thought it’d never get here.

The highly anticipated snowfall has begun in Tulsa.  At the homestead, it started with a sleet/snow mix, but I’m guessing it’ll turn to snow shortly.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for several counties in Oklahoma until 6:00 pm.

We’re expecting about an inch or two of the white stuff, so I don’t foresee a major travel problem, but bridges and overpasses will ice over first.  So, be careful out there.  TPD has enacted “Operation Slick Streets”.  They won’t respond to non-injury accidents unless drunk driving is involved.  If you’re travelling today, you can get the latest road condition reports right here:  https://www.tulsawxchaser.com/blog/live/road-condition-information/.
