I love waking up to the sound of rain and thunder.  It’s calming.  Adding to that are the smells of fresh coffee brewing and frying bacon filling the house.  No Starbucks for coffee and no Village Inn for breakfast.  Not this morning.

I’m in no hurry to start my day.  I’ll spend my morning enjoying the solitude and watching the rain fall.

Light rain continues to come down, but the heaviest of the rains have moved to the south of me.  The skies are still dark and I can hear the thunder rumbling off in the distance.  A perfect morning.

This afternoon will heat up some, although the highs are expected to stay in the mid to upper 80s.  Not bad for August.  I’m sure the morning rain will cause heat indexes to climb into the 90s this afternoon.  I can accept that.

Relief.

A cold front will be moving through tonight and more rain will come with it, keeping temperatures in the 80s for a few days.  Not to be left behind, the overnight lows will begin dropping too — into the low 60s.

Autumn is approaching.  I think I’m ready for her.
