2:20 PM update: FBI stated that shooter had been investigated twice. The latest investigation centered around his contact with a suicide bomber. He said their investigation was “inconclusive” and the investigation was closed. However, the shooter did have a security clearance and worked for an international security company that provides security for federal facilities. How the hell this guy kept his clearance is beyond me.
It’s also being reported that there could be a second shooter.
12:53 PM update: A man was arrested in California with an “arsenal” in his vehicle. He said he was going to the LA Pride.
Here in Tulsa, a vigil is being held at Club Majestic tonight at 8:30.
Although no specific threats are known, the Tulsa Police Department is increasing security at several locations in Tulsa out of an abundance of caution.
It’s a sad day in American history. A terrorist opened fire on the inside the Pulse Club in Orlando, Florida. The terrorist was neutralized by Orlando police. When the shooting stopped, 49 people were dead and 53 were wounded. Some of them are critical.
The gunman has been identified as Omar Saddiqui Mateen. The FBI is investigating this act as domestic terrorism.
CNN reported that the shooter made a call to 911 during the shooting. In that phone call, he pledged allegiance to ISIS. This is Islamic Terrorism.
Where was Homeland Security? Reports are surfacing that Mateen had been investigated previously for radical ties.
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the dead and wounded, and all Americans. An act such as this affects us all.
