Hermine, now a tropical storm, will develop into a category 1 hurricane Thursday evening. A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Suwannee River to Mexico Beach.
Evacuation orders have been issued for some counties in Florida ahead of the storm. Hurricane force winds, dangerous storm surge, heavy rains and the potential for tornadoes can be expected. Landfall is expected overnight Thursday into Friday.
Florida Governor Scott filed a State of Emergency declaration on Wednesday.
Residents in the path of this storm should take immediate action to secure property and follow evacuation orders issued by local Emergency Management.
