Severe weather potential mid-week

I’m looking the the forecasts this morning.  A storm system will be moving into NE Oklahoma mid-week that could bring severe storms to the Tulsa area.  This could be the first chase opportunity of the year.  It’s still too early to forecast a specific setup, but it’s worth watching.  Higher temps, moisture and instability are all factors that will likely be present.

As of now the timing of storm initiation around the Tulsa area will likely be Wednesday evening after 6:00 pm and will probably continue into the overnight hours.  Temps should be into the low to mid 80s with dewpoints in the mid-60s.

As of now.

Here’s the area of concern for Wednesday.  This graphic was released by the SPC this morning.

Convective Outlook for Wednesday, May 2 (SPC)

This scenario is a best-guess at this point.  Things could change over the next day or two.  Regardless, it’d be a good idea to get your shelter-in-place plans ready.  Just in case.

I’ll post updates when necessary.
