You’ll find that this post comes worded quite differently as no one can quite word things like my dad could. He had a knack for storytelling and loved to add in his photography skills as he shared. He loved many things, really. Photography, storytelling, storm chasing, voicing his opinions on politics. :) And as all of those hobbies and skills have their own seasons, so do we as humans. We’re born, we try our hardest to navigate through the times of this world, and then our time comes to an end. And sometimes those ends come out of nowhere.

It’s with deep sadness that we let his community – YOU – know that my dad’s final change has come. He has lived all of his seasons of life. He has chased his last and final storm – and fought his way through to the end. After an extremely short, but courageous battle with cancer, he is now flying high.

One of dad’s favorite things to photograph was weather. All kinds of weather, really. Snow, sunrises and sunsets, severe weather, nature. He loved it all. And as we come up on this “stormy season” of change, it’s reminded his family of what he loved to do – watch the storms roll in, chase to his hearts content, then see the rainbow on the other side. My cousin said it best, “I like to think of today’s weather as a little hello and smile from him. His reminder that even though his death has meant stormy weather, there’s beauty in the memories, the peace he now has and a promise of hope through the rainbow.”

Dad is extremely loved and missed. And as hard as it is for us here in the physical form, it is extremely comforting to know that he is no longer in any pain and is finally able to rest. Thank you for being here with him all these years. He loved this community and I truly believe that in some way, you all became a part of his family, too.
