We may as well begin to call this “The winter storm of 2013”.  That’s how this is going to be known.  Or you can call it “Rocky”.  That’s what The Weather Channel has named it.  Whatever you call it, it’s shaping up to deliver a major blizzard to Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.

I know, it’s hard to believe.  We have fair skies and 61° right now in Tulsa and we’re not under any weather advisories.  Yet.

Tonight we have a slight chance we’ll see some rain.  No big deal, right?  That rain is going to change over to snow around midnight tomorrow night.  Currently, we’re expecting 3″ of snow to fall in Tulsa, but that could change as the position and timing of the system become more focused.

To our north, Winter Storm Warnings have been issued.  To our west, Winter Storm Warnings and Blizzard Warnings have been issued.  Osage county was just put under a Blizzard Warning.  It’s all getting pretty close to Tulsa.

I’m expecting Tulsa will be included in a watch or warning before the snow begins tomorrow.  If this system drifts south, it could become dangerous.

You need to do what you think is best for you and your family.  I’ve planned for a worse case scenario.

Keep monitoring this thing.  We could luck out here in Tulsa.  Our neighbors aren’t going to be so lucky.
