Thunderstorms possible this evening, some could be severe

Update 4/15/13:  This didn’t quite develop like I thought it would.  We were actually put under a watch, but it was canceled a short time later.

Original Post

It should be an okay day.  Highs are expected to end up near 80° with partly cloudy skies.  Later this evening, our rain and storm chances will increase.

There’s a slight risk of severe weather moving into southern Kansas and northern Oklahoma.  We could see rain locally, but it looks like the most likely area for severe thunderstorm development will be in southeast Kansas.

The major threat with any storm that develops will be large hail.  Of course, with any thunderstorm, there’s risk of a tornado or two.

The rain will continue overnight with a low of 57°.

Tomorrow we’ll have a repeat of today – highs in the 70s and chances of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow evening.
