Enjoying the white stuff? It’s not over yet.

We’ve had a bit of sleet and snow today.  Mostly sleet, which made the drive home interesting.  The roads were icy, but not impassible, as long as drivers took their time and didn’t do stupid stuff.  But…you know drivers.  Some did do stupid stuff.  Accidents were reported all over the city.

The snow and sleet is tapering off in Tulsa.  But, I don’t see road conditions improving.  Overnight temps will be near 20° and any melting caused by traffic will turn to ice.  If you have to get out, use extreme caution.  Slow down, give yourself plenty of room and think ahead.

Another round of accumulating snow will develop in the early morning hours.  The forecasts are calling for a few inches of additional snowfall.  The mix of fresh snow on top of the ice will make the morning commute dicey.  Give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.

Schools in the Tulsa area will be closed tomorrow.  For a listing of the closings, visit the Channel 2 web site.  The link to the list is:  http://www.kjrh.com/subindex/weather/school_closings.

Here’s the latest forecast.  Stay warm and stay safe.
