My top 5 photography channels on YouTube

I’m no different than a lot of photographers. I follow several YouTube creators for entertainment, education, and inspiration. The five channels I’ve chosen aren’t the only channels I follow, but they are my top YouTube creators.

If you’re looking for the multi-million subscriber creators and fifteen minute commercials, you’ll be disappointed in my list. They’re not the biggest channels, but they’re big on quality content and all of them upload consistently.

#5 The Bite Shot (141,000 subscribers)

Joanie Simon is at the top of her game when it comes to food photography. What she shares with her viewers can be applied to any studio photography situation. She knows her stuff.

#4 Brendan van Son (127,000 subscribers)

Brendan is a travel photographer, now based in Lagos, Portugal. He shares his unique perspectives on landscape and travel photography, and he’s not shy when telling the truth about the photography business.

#3 Nick Carver (54,000 subscribers)

I happened upon Nick’s channel a few months ago by accident. He shoots with medium and large format film cameras, so he’s not someone I would have searched for, since I shoot digital. His ability to share his photography experiences with his viewers is top-notch. He’s not one to post often, but when he does it’s informational and fun to watch.

#2 Thomas Heaton (359,000 subscribers)

Thomas Heaton is a landscape photographer from the UK. He takes us along on his landscape adventures, explaining his methods for capturing magnificent landscapes.

#1 Peter McKinnon (3,900,000 subscribers)

Peter’s channel has blown up over the past couple of years and my number one favorite.

With a background in marketing photography and videography, Peter takes viewers behind the scene and explains in detail how he does it and why. How he finds the time to upload one or two videos a week is beyond me. Maybe it’s the coffee.

I hope you’ll take some time and visit my favorites. You won’t be disappointed. If you have favorites of your own, let me know in the comments and I’ll pay them a visit.
