Siberian air mass heading to Oklahoma

Like it or not, winter weather is coming. After a rather mild day tomorrow, with temps in the mid to upper 40s here in Tulsa, temperatures are expected to begin dropping as the Siberian cold moves into Oklahoma.

It looks like we could see a bit of the white stuff Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Maybe an inch or two. But the focus will quickly turn to falling temps and wind chill values.

Thursday’s high will be around 18F at 6:00 am and those temps will drop into the single digits by mid-afternoon and dangerous wind chill values of around -20F are expected. Frigid temps will be with us until mid-day on Christmas.

Winter is here.

So, if you must travel over the holiday, make sure you have some food and water and warm clothing with you, keep the fuel tank filled up, and check road conditions before you head out. I’ve made it easy to check road conditions, just click here for conditions in Oklahoma and surrounding states.

Stay warm, folks. Be careful if you’re using supplemental heat sources.

Until next time.
