Good morning, friends! I hope you are all doing well on this fall morning. As I am writing this, the temp is 56 degrees and cloudy. And highs today are expected to reach into the low 60s and then fall into the low 40s overnight. Fall is here!

It has been a stressful couple of weeks for me. I may have mentioned previously that my house is sinking. This fact isn’t the best news in my life, but I have to get that fixed before I can get a new roof and fix the damage from the foundation issues.

So, the contractor is coming mid-week to pier the foundation.

19 piers are going to be installed around the perimeter of my house at a cost of $13,000. I hope that work doesn’t cause even more damage and they’ll be able to work around all of those plants I had planted this summer. Yes, it is expensive to have the work done, but I don’t really have a choice at this point. I’ve had a few sleepless nights worrying about it. You know it may only be an inch or so out of square, but when I lay down after the day, that one inch grows into a foot. Crazy. The joys of home ownership.

I’ve also been watching the war being waged in Israel. I don’t think it has helped my stress any. This morning I’ve decided to ignore it as much as I can. I’ve not turned the news on this morning to help give myself a break from all of the turmoil in countries I have no vested interest in and the idiots here in the United States. For mental health I’ve decided there’s nothing I can do to change what’s going on and whatever course our leaders decide to take it will be what I’ll have to live with. One thing I’m sure of, I need to drown out the noise. But, as you know, it’s difficult to do that with today’s technology. It’s everywhere. At any rate, expect gas prices and food costs to increase over the next few weeks.

Yesterday I’d planned to take photos of the eclipse. As with the many plans we have, it didn’t quite work out. We had cloud cover here making it difficult to see the eclipse. I did watch it on YouTube though. The natural course of things is still amazing to me. Well, nature in general is – without a doubt – amazing.

I would like to take a second to ask you to subscribe to my journals. If you like them. There’s a place on the righthand side of each page. Don’t worry, I don’t sell your email info and I won’t spam you. But you will be notified when I post something new.

That’s all for now. Have a great week!
