Sunday, October 29th (Freeze Warning)

Good evening, friends. I hope this finds all of you well and warm.

It’s been raining this weekend, and the temperature is dropping. It’s 5pm and only 37 degrees. Low tonight is expected to be below freezing and a Freeze Warning has been issued for most of eastern Oklahoma.

It’s not going to warm up much this week either. Was fall really only a couple of weeks long? I’m not sure I’m ready for winter quite yet.

I did get out earlier today and disconnected my garden hoses and put the winter covers on the faucets. The covers I have are several years old and the foam is beginning to deteriorate, so, I ordered new ones and they’ll replace the old ones once the new ones arrive next week. If you’re wondering, I use Frost King covers. Here’s the Amazon link if you’re interested. Thermwell Frost King FC2 Plastic Faucet Cover, Rectangular, Single, Dark Red – Faucet Handles – Amazon.com. I think the ones I have are probably 10 years old. They lasted a long time.

My house has the piers installed now. I have some holes to fill back up. Since the rains, a couple of them have settled. I guess that’s to be expected. Of course, the soil is too wet to do that right now. I hope things dry out next week so I can do that. In the spring, I’ll have some dirt work done to improve drainage. That needs to be done before the roof and concrete work. It never ends, does it? The joys of home ownership.

I’ve actually been quite lazy here today. The dreary skies, cold and rain, makes me want to sleep, and zaps productivity. It seems to be normal that my list of things I want to get done is longer than the time to do them. I have been working on the laundry and I’m about ready to start my supper. Not totally a waste.

I think that’s enough for now. Stay warm, folks. It’s getting cold.

Talk soon.
