The Picher Tornado, 3 months later One Sunday morning I decided to take a day-trip into northeast Oklahoma to visit the small mining town of Picher. Picher was nearly destroyed by an F4 tornado that touched down on May 10, 2008, leaving the town a mass of splintered lumber, crushed automobiles, and shattered dreams.
